Lesson 3 of 9 · 6 min
Who you are calling
The trades that fit, and the ones you skip.
Call these businesses
We call UK trade businesses that live on inbound enquiries: the phone rings, a form comes in, or a homeowner messages them, and someone has to answer or the job is gone.
- Plumbing companies
- Heating, boiler, and HVAC companies
- Electrical contractors
- Roofing companies
- Small general builders and multi-trade firms
The size that fits
The right size is a business where the owner still answers the phone themselves. Usually that is an owner-run firm with about 1 to 15 vans. They already get some leads from Google, Checkatrade, referrals or ads, but they miss calls or reply late.
You will hear it on the call: "I'm on a job", "it goes to voicemail", "my partner checks the phone at night", "we lose emergencies to whoever picks up". That is the buyer.
Skip these
- Private individuals. We sell to the business, not the homeowner.
- Firms that already have a full-time person answering within minutes, evenings included, and a full order book.
- Businesses that do not live on inbound leads.
- Anyone who has already told us not to call.
